Our Story
Hello there! I’m Bonnie – a wife, mom, and traveller with a love for adventure and an appreciation for the simple joys of nature.
That said, my tenting days are officially over! I’ve traded my sleeping bag and air mattress for a cozy bed with soft sheets and warm blankets, my camp coffee for a perfectly brewed cup, and my “waiting out the rain” moments for peaceful time in a warm barrel sauna perched over the ocean – spotting humpback whales or bald eagles through floor-to-ceiling glass windows.
In late 2023, I took a leisurely drive up the quiet coast of Oceanside and stumbled upon a waterfront property for sale. It exuded the charm of a bygone era – days spent beachside collecting seashells, building sandcastles, listening to ocean waves, and savouring the simple pleasure of an ice cream cone in the late afternoon sun.
With my kids almost grown, I knew I was ready for a new chapter, and this property felt like the perfect place to bring a piece of the past back to life, with a fresh and inviting twist on the West Coast beachfront vacation experience.
I didn’t start with grand plans – in fact, there were no plans! Just a dream, a vision, and the unwavering support of my husband, family, and friends who worked tirelessly to make this dream a reality.
My goal was simple: to create a place where friends and families could come together to enjoy the beauty of Vancouver Island and create lasting memories.
At ROAM, you’ll find thoughtfully designed spaces that blend modern comfort with a sense of community, whether it’s our oceanfront social deck with a roaring gas fire bowl, cozy cabins, beachfront RV sites, or our one-of-a-kind barrel sauna perched by the ocean.
ROAM embodies everything I hold dear: the joy of sunny beach days, the natural beauty of Vancouver Island, starry nights, steamy saunas and refreshing ocean dips, forest bathing along stunning old-growth trails, the magic of storm watching, and the deep sense of connection that comes from sharing this incredible slice of paradise with others.
